Welcome

Glanville Ladies Residential Care is an oasis near the heart of St Helier.

The residents of Glanville enjoy the experience of living in a family like environment where they are cared for by a team of dedicated and considerate professionals who put the ladies at the centre of the home.

We have over 160 years’ experience in ensuring our ladies are safe and comfortable and can participate in a diverse range of activities, whilst providing the highest level of support and care.

Set in beautiful grounds, Glanville Ladies Residential Care is not an institution. We are a caring team with a family-centred approach to offering the most comfortable and caring service to our residents.

About

Glanville Ladies Residential Care is the ideal place for a short respite stay or permanent, supportive care.

We can provide independent residency or complex assistance to help support ladies with more significant needs.

If you are looking for a home from home, with only 25 rooms, we pride ourselves on providing our ladies with a home that is filled with love and warmth.

Our ladies enjoy our beautiful gardens and conservatory and are encouraged to take in as much of our beautiful setting as possible, as we understand the importance it has on their wellbeing.

History

Founded in 1860, Glanville Ladies Residential Care is Jersey’s longest established home for elderly ladies.

Since we first opened our doors, we have provided a home from home for ladies who need extra care and support in a family like setting. At the heart of our ethos is providing our ladies with a home that is filled with love and warmth.

We are proud to have offered the same high levels of care and comfort for 160 years.

Glanville has been providing care for ladies since 1857. In 1860 a committee was formed and the ‘Jersey Asylum for Infirm and Aged’ Women’ was established. Soon after a first home was opened at 17 Regent Street to care for 25 ladies.

In 1963 this building was sold and the current property, Glanville, was bought. This was followed three years later by the purchase of the adjacent house, when the properties were extended to make the bespoke property we provide today.

Jersey Heritage has kindly prepared an article telling the story of how our charity came to be founded, so long ago. It may be read by clicking below.

“It’s wonderful here, the girls are fantastic. They look after you so well and they’re so pleasant in their manner. The place is always so clean and everyone is so friendly”
