Care, it’s in our nature

The importance of care

The team of experienced staff who care for the ladies at Glanville put each resident’s personal needs at the centre of their approach.

Each lady has her own individual requirements and a bespoke contract and care plan will be created with each resident and her family to ensure that she receives the best possible care.

We treat our residents as the individuals they are, and encourage them wherever possible to be active in creating their care plans.

Part of our duty of care towards our residents involves ensuring they are provided with healthy and varied meals every day, catering for all dietary requirements. Our fully trained chef prepares a delicious range of meals and treats for our ladies, often with fruit and vegetables grown from our own gardens. Meals are enjoyed communally which is a highlight of our day.

Residents expectations

We pride ourselves on offering a bespoke and compassionate care approach that gives each of our residents a sense of empowerment in their care.

We understand that often our ladies wish to retain a sense of freedom and we aim to create a joyful home that allows them to be themselves.

Activities

As well as constant access to Glanville’s beautiful and calming surroundings, we offer a range of activities to stimulate and entertain our ladies.

Entertainment is arranged to come into the home on a regular basis and we have a regular programme of daily activities to complement each lady’s personality and interests.

We also arrange trips to the Opera House, daytime Island tours and garden centres. These visits are a highlight for our ladies and help them to feel connected to our Island.

A member of the Anglican clergy also attends the Home on a monthly basis to give Communion and hold a short services for ladies who wish to attend. We welcome ladies of all faiths and they are encouraged to invite their own ministers into the Home.

We welcome visitors at all times of the day between 9am and 9pm that are convenient for residents’ family and friends.

Unfortunately these visits / trips are still limited, due to covid restrictions. But we shall be offering these outings again once it is safe to do so.

A wonderful family tribute

On behalf of the Hibbs family, whose name has been synonymous with the Lifeboats for many decades, La Cloche (St Saviour’s Parish magazine) is proud to offer a big 'Thank You’ to Isobel and all the staff at the GLANVILLE CARE HOME, for their exceptional love, care, and dedication shown throughout the whole time Cheryl's late mother-in-law LORRAINE HIBBS was a resident until she sadly passed away on January 8th this year, in her 102nd year.

"Mum was always happy and contented there and felt that it was her home, hence it was her choice to return to GLANVILLE from Hospice to end her days, and, to me, that speaks volumes. When Mum first went to GLANVILLE, it was the lovely Andrea in charge who kindly organized Mum's 100th Birthday party, with the Lieutenant Governor and his wife in attendance; she had a fantastic day. We all miss Andrea, but wish her well in her retirement, with the lovely Isobel  taking  over, and who, on Mum's return from Hospice, made Mum so comfortable and allowed me and Barry, Mum's nephew, to visit Mum every day, as my husband could not visit because he is regarded as high risk, which was not easy for him. Nothing was too much trouble, always a cup of tea, a lovely chat with the fantastic staff. Kayleigh, who was always by Mum's side, 'Angel' as Mum called her, also Louise, Linda, Carina, Tania, Berni, who would sing to Mum and always bring Mum flowers, and Christine, who used to read the Bible to Mum, which she loved, in fact all the staff. And on Mum's final journey when the Hearse passed, they all kindly stood in a line outside to bid their own farewells and the residents at the windows to do the same, pulled at the heart strings. You are amazing and I will miss you all, and to stay COVID free is a credit to you all. We are all quick to criticise but in my opinion you all deserve recognition. Thank you all again; the words Thank you just do not seem enough. God Bless you all Take Care, Stay Safe. The Parish of St Saviour should be very proud of the care home at Glanville."

“It’s lovely. I’ve got a lovely view of the garden and it’s always nice and clean here, you couldn’t fault anything”
